Claim and evidence uploads

A mock audit starts from the claim as filed and the records behind it. Uploads happen in two stages: the claim forms for the company, then the documents for each project.

Stage one: the claim forms

  • Form 6765 for the tax year. Section G lists the business components, which become your projects.
  • The state credit claim form or schedule, where the state has a program.
  • Prior-year Forms 6765, which support the base amount under the method elected.

Stage two: documents for each project

Each project has its own documents step and its own checklist. The eleven evidence categories are:

  • Payroll and wage records
  • Time tracking
  • Project documents and plans
  • Engineering tickets and commits
  • Technical specifications
  • Test logs and results
  • Contracts and SOWs
  • Supply invoices
  • Employee work locations
  • Entity and ownership records
  • Prior-year returns

Each category ticks off as a matching file arrives. The same company records, such as the payroll register, can be added to every project. TaxTrex subscribers can add the project's position paper as a separate item.

Formats

PDF, Excel, CSV and Word files are accepted. On this site nothing is uploaded or sent: files stay in your browser and only their names are used.

Complete is not the same as sufficient

Note.A full checklist means every category has a file. It does not mean the file answers the examiner's question. That is what evidence scoring tests next.

General in nature, not tax advice.
