Improving a weak or incomplete evidence file

A Weak or Missing rating comes with a reason. Start from the reasons, not the score: most of them point at a record that exists and was not supplied.

Read the reasons first

Each rating says what was matched and what was not. "The ticket export covers the gripper team only" is a different problem from "no contemporaneous records were uploaded". The first is a missing export; the second may be a record that was never kept.

Prioritize

  • Red flags first: they can override the band.
  • Then the fix plan order: impact against effort.
  • Company-wide items once, since they apply to every project.

Find the records that exist

  • Ticket and version-control systems hold dated history that is rarely exported in full.
  • Test equipment and lab systems keep logs.
  • Payroll systems hold work-location and withholding codes.
  • Contracts live with procurement or legal, not always with the project team.

Re-run and compare

After adding records, run the mock audit again and compare the ratings. In the sample claim, adding a project's TaxTrex position paper resolves four questions at once. A reassessment only reflects what the new records show; verify them before relying on the revised result.

Gaps that cannot be repaired

Note.Time that was not recorded, tests whose results were not kept, and contracts with no rights clause cannot be fixed by writing something later. The honest course is to reduce the claim to what the records support.

General in nature, not tax advice.
